Makeup artist Marylin Lee is responsible for Brooke Burke's glamorous look each week on Dancing with the Stars. Marylin sits down with SheKnows and dishes on how we can get the same super fab look at home!

Brooke Burke Dancing with the Stars

Celebrity makeup artist Marylin Lee knows a thing or two about glam -- after all, she's the pro behind host Brooke Burke's beautiful presence on Dancing with the Stars.

"My main goal for Brooke's look is a clean and shimmery glow that looks natural," Lee dished. "I avoid glitter and I avoid extreme colors. Although, this season we'll see a little more color used!"

Yes, Burke is naturally beautiful -- but even beautiful women need talented pros behind them to bring out their features on-screen.

"Dancing with the Stars is a dream job for a makeup artist!" she gushed. "It's so much fun working on a live show, and collaborating on new looks every week."

Luckily, us mere mortals can get the same look with plenty of professional advice from Lee's bag of makeup tricks.

Preparation is Key

Any Dancing with the Stars contestant will tell you that preparation is the key to success. Same goes for a glamorous makeup look -- you must prepare the palette before starting on your work of art.

"My first step is applying moisturizer, on face and neck," Lee said. "Then I'll use a primer before foundation. This helps fill in fine lines and allows staying power for the foundation. A good primer is Lancôme La Base Pro."

Eye shadow before Foundation!

Lee best trick is to first apply eye shadow before adding foundation to Burke's face.

"Because the look is usually a heavier eye, I start with the eye makeup before the foundation, so I can clean up all the spillage from the eye shadow," she said.

Brooke Burke Dancing with the Stars

"No matter how careful you are, dark eye shadow will fall and can mess up your fresh foundation, so avoid this by applying eye shadow first."

Lee also stresses the virtue of a good eye shadow primer.

"I love to use a eye shadow primer, and my favorite is Urban Decay Eye shadow Primer Potion. This will keep your eye shadow looking fresh all night and keep the eye shadow from creasing."

Lee loves to use different colors each week, depending on Burke's wardrobe.

"I use different color palettes for every show, but what remains consistent is that I top off the colors with a sparkle! I love Sue Devitt E-Z Rollerball Eye shadow and Becca Jewel Dust," she said.

"I pop this right on the eyelid, on top of the eye shadow, and sometimes use it to give a little highlight at the inner corner of the eye."

Clean up any excess eye shadow or spillage with a sponge or cotton swab.

Bronze is the Word!

Highlighting and bronzing is, well, the highlight of Lee's makeup process.

"I love highlighting and bronzing. Try using two tones of foundation, using the lighter color at the T-zone area of the face. This will make you look lit from within," she said. "I use the Temptu Airbrush system for a flawless look, but you can achieve this with liquid foundation blended very well."

Also, never underestimate the power of a little concealer.

"I love the YSL Touche Éclat as a highlighting concealer under the eye, and below the outer corner of the eye. Sometimes I will use this on the brow bone as a highlight."

Lee also uses Temptu on Burke for a shimmering highlighting.

"The Sunset Glow is great, and the Copper is beautiful as a bronzer for face and body. Set the foundation with a fine loose powder. I will use two or three blushes to create a dimensional look -- a matte tone, such as Mac Coppertone, under the cheekbone, a bright tone, such as Mac Fleur Power on the cheek, and a shimmery tone on the top of the cheekbone like Nars Orgasm."

Lashes Come Last

Lee saves Burke's lashes until the end to avoid any makeup mishaps.

"I finish lashes after all my powder and foundation work because the powder can stick to lashes, taking away the blackness of the mascara," she said.

A good eyelash curler goes a long way.

"Curl lashes using a good eyelash curler -- I like Shu Uemura. I always use false lashes, I'll use either strips or individuals then apply mascara to blend the false and real lashes together," she said.

"I usually finish the eye by applying a thin line of black liner at the lash line -- I love Lancôme Artliner in Noir, it's very easy to apply and will stay put."

Don't Forget the Body, Baby!

Lee likes to add a little bronzer to Burke's body to help bring out a healthy glow.

"I will either spray the Temptu Copper, or apply Murad Firming Body Bronzer," she said. "I want a natural glow, not fake or glittery."

Finally, Lee finishes off Burke's look with a shimmery lip gloss.

Why Makeup?

Lee obviously knows a few things about beauty, so how did she get her start as makeup artist for Dancing with the Stars?

Marylin Lee Dancing with the Stars

"My first introduction to beauty was at age 16, when I modeled in Japan. I did a couple of cosmetics campaigns for Kose Cosmetics," she said. "I didn't pursue a career as a makeup artist until years later and I actually enrolled in makeup school at MUD at age 32, which was probably considered old to start a career in fashion and beauty."

"However, I think because of my background as an artist and having been a model, I caught on and excelled very quickly," she said.

We have to agree. Check Marylin Lee out on Twitter -- she tweets live every week from the Dancing with the Stars set with a sneak peak of Brooke Burke's makeup look for the show. Brooke Burke talks Dancing With the Stars and at-home fitness

Brooke Burke is a busy mom, what with hosting Dancing With the Stars, writing her first book that is due in stores in February, planning her wedding to fiance David Charvet, raising her children and serving as spokesperson for Ubisoft’s new fitness game, Your Shape Fitness Evolved. You can imagine our joy she was able to take the time to talk to us exclusively.

Brooke Burke invites SheKnows to her workout

Burke is currently enjoying Dancing With the Stars' highest-rated season yet, but on this day, SheKnows caught up with her while demonstrating the exciting new fitness video game that promises to make working out easier on busy moms -- just like Burke -- while not sacrificing exercise effectiveness, at the Up Dog Yoga and Cycling center in Los Angeles.

Brooke Burke brings it

SheKnows: Tell me about the fitness program you've endorsed and why out of all the fitness programs, you attached your name to this particular game?

Brooke Burke: I'm really fascinated by the technology and how it works with the Xbox360. I think it is so revolutionary and I'm so fascinated by it. You know, it's interesting that you don't have to hold handles like the Wii, you don't have to have tools anymore -- you don't even have to use a controller. Everything is pretty much virtual, but also, the game's camera puts you into the game.

SheKnows: I saw that, it's crazy, like your workout clothes and everything!

Brooke Burke: Yeah, you're watching yourself on the screen with a trainer. It's really, really cool! It's different and it's revolutionary. Also, I love to be able to workout at home because I'm so busy. I think this is something that's going to surprise people and there are so many great options as well.

SheKnows: What do you think these fitness games have specifically done for working moms like yourself to get in that workout that's so important?

Brooke Burke: I know well that, unfortunately, your workout is usually the first thing that goes, right? Honestly, just cutting out the driving time is nice by being able to workout at home. I wish I could go to the gym, but realistically I'd spend another two hours of my day with a workout. You can do it at home in your living room and with a game like this; you can have a celebrity trainer where normally you can't afford one. Now you can have one in the privacy of your own living room. You can get your workout done and design it in whatever time frame that you have available. Whenever you're ready, it's ready for you. I think it's much easier to commit and to accomplish your fitness goals. You can also enter in a profile so it tracks your progress and your improvement. Also, you can get online and share stats with other people -- that can be motivating for a lot of women!

Brooke Burke

Celebrity trainer and video game variety

SheKnows: I know they say that doing one particular workout over time doesn't do as much for you as various different workouts, how does the game vary the regimen?

Brooke Burke: It's true, I think people get bored and people get into a rut and then they're less motivated to continue working out. I like to mix-up my workouts too. I love the kick boxing, that's one of my favorite ones. There's yoga, you can even do a class with this game. You could do a one-on-one workout with a trainer where you can incorporate hand weights. You can make your workout harder when you're ready to, doing things to increase that. It's nice if you have the option on all those varieties. You can choose different workouts all the time as you master one and move on to another.

SheKnows: It's kind of incredible the technology that's come into the household...

Brooke Burke: It's blown me away. It's very futuristic, almost Star Trek-like, "Beam me up, Scottie." That's what I keep saying [laughs] when I look at myself in the game! You are actually in the game and it does a scan of your body -- even your clothes, your face -- everything is there. It's unbelievable.

SheKnows: I would think that as a mom, it is also important to have your kids seeing you workout, which you don't get if you go to a gym. It's your chance to be a fitness role model.

Brooke Burke wins DWTSBrooke Burke: That's a great point! Health and fitness is really, really an important issue for sure in my household. I do a lot of things outdoors with my kids. I also monitor the amount of video games that they play, but I'm all for it with this game because this is an opportunity to do a routine and to workout when I'm at home. They see the commitment that I make to myself to take care of myself. Actually, they can join in on a game like this as well which makes it really fun! There are some games that are a little bit more fun than your straight fitness. There's some hula hooping options, things like that that the kids can do as well.

Dancing dish

SheKnows: As a co-host of Dancing With the Stars you see firsthand the incredible benefits of regular exercise as the celebrities marvel at how much they get in shape. Everyone's talking about the Dancing With the Stars diet.

Brooke Burke: Dancing as much as they do, it's a great workout. Most of the celebrities really want to keep it going after the show closes.

SheKnows: Would you recommend the game to your Dancing With the Stars co-stars?

Brooke Burke: Absolutely, I would recommend this game to anyone who's busy. I would recommend it to anybody who just has a goal for their own motivation, who wants to do something different. I think people who aren't avid fitness people; the curiosity factor that this new technology brings is going to spark a lot of interest. But, as far as Dancing With the Stars goes, some of them are in the best shape of their life before they finish.

Brooke Burke hosts DWTSSheKnows: You're on your second season of Dancing With the Stars now, how have you found the experience of the second season versus the first? You've always seemed incredibly comfortable this year.

Brooke Burke: Oh, thank you. It's always more comfortable to return to a place you've already been. The first season was exciting -- a lot of fun for me too because I know what it's like to have been there and have ups and downs. I have a lot of compassion for all the dancers and what they're going through. I know it's a glamorous gig, but returning to this year's show, it's definitely more comfortable and more relaxing. Production is always mixing it up to keep the show exciting, but it's a great family over there and so much fun to work on, and I enjoy watching the dancers just like everybody at home does.

SheKnows: Also you're in a unique position backstage as an interview person. I'm just curious if you get to know these people and is it ever hard when the celebrities get sent home?

Brooke Burke: It is difficult. Eliminations are always tough. They're very emotional for the cast and for myself because I spend those very vulnerable real moments back in the skybox with them -- when they've just either been praised or they've been bashed, they've succeeded or failed. I also feel like I'm somewhat of a support system because they come to me for advice, knowing that I've been in their shoes and won the show. It's really hard to say goodbye, especially when we have a surprising elimination like we did recently. Nobody thought Audrina Patridge would be going home. Audrina and Jennifer in the bottom two was like, wow, are you kidding! It just goes to show viewers that they really need to vote because sometimes you watch the show and don't participate -- the public has the power to dictate those results.

SheKnows: As somebody who has won Dancing With the Stars, what is it that you think DWTS has done to raise the discussion about dance?

Brooke Burke: I think there are a lot of positive messages for me. What I learned most from my experience dancing was just having faith in yourself and doing something that scares you. I think it is a really important step to take in life and to try new things that are different. Also, to think that my daughter is watching me go through the experience meant the world to me. She really fell in love with dance and is in dance class now because of that. I love the message that that sends to young girls and women.

Brooke BurkeSheKnows: Absolutely. And I understand congratulations are in order as you were just named host of Miss America!

Brooke Burke: Thank you! That just came out. I'm very excited. I've been watching Miss America with my mom since I was a little girl. My mom's been watching with her mom. My mom is actually more excited about this than me hosting Dancing With the Stars. It's very sweet. There's a lot of history there. It's an honor to be asked to co-host Miss America.

SheKnows: What is your secret to effective TV hosting?

Brooke Burke: I love hosting live television. Compassion goes a long way as a host. I love to watch other hosts in action when I really feel like they care.

TV personality and mom of four Brooke Burke is releasing a new book called The Naked Mom: A Modern Mom’s Fearless Revelations, Savvy Advice and Soulful Reflections.

Brooke Burke The Naked MomDancing With the Stars host Brooke Burke is one busy mom! Between hosting the hit show and caring for her four children, she is currently promoting her new book called The Naked Mom: A Modern Mom's Fearless Revelations, Savvy Advice and Soulful Reflections. Did we mention she is naked on the cover -- and looks amazing?

Burke, 39, talks about raising a blended family , as well as the importance of having your own goals outside of being a mom.

"You can still have goals and priorities outside of your family," she said in an interview. "You can still be 100 percent committed to your family. I've accomplished more as a mother than any other time in my life and it's about remembering that you matter, committing to taking care of yourself and your partner just as well as you take care of your children. I think that's the ultimate challenge, and it's easier said than done, but it's possible."

Burke stopped by Good Morning America and said her book contains many "naked truths," including the fact that she "loves her children madly," but doesn't always "like" her children.

"It was one of those scary 'naked truths' I call them in the book," she said during the interview, going on to say she doesn't want that to be taken out of context or misinterpreted. "I don't think most people are strong enough to understand I love my children equally and I love them madly and deeply."

"But I think as a mother you love your child differently and you go through phases and it's really about communicating and listening to them and figuring out what works with each child."

The Naked Mom: A Modern Mom's Fearless Revelations, Savvy Advice and Soulful Reflections is available at Amazon for $15.45.

Brooke Burke and her boyfriend David Charvet have put their Malibu mansion up for $12.5 million -- if you don’t have that kind of dough, you can rent it for $75,000 a month. Pocket change, right?

Brooke Burke and David Charvet

Dancing With the Stars host Brooke Burke and David Charvet are packing up their four kids and moving out of their Malibu mansion, dubbed Chateau Charvet. Interested in the beautiful French-style home? It'll cost you!

Charvet purchased the property for $1.275 million in 1998, however, he and Burke renovated the 6,769-square-foot pad years later and it's now on the market for $12.5 million -- or they are also offering up the option of renting it out for $75,000 per month.

Chateau Charvet is a five-bedroom home that features an 18th century fountain, an infinity swimming pool and spa, French fireplaces, a hidden screening room, a wine cellar -- and even an "off-season" closet to store your out-of-season clothes.

The house is truly impressive -- and quite a home for those that can afford it! It is located in Serra Retreat, which boasts other celebrity neighbors such as Mel Gibson's ex-wife Robin, Camille Grammer and Avatar director James Cameron.

Burke recently opened up to Redbook magazine about her family life.

"It's Familyville in my life, but David and I make sure to escape once a week. So maybe on a Sunday night, we'll go out to dinner at a favorite Malibu restaurant. Or at home we get the candles, the music -- the whole deal -- and we close the bedroom door."

Brooke Burke and David Charvet have tied the knot in an intimate island ceremony. A rep confirmed the couple is married!

Brooke Burke David Charvet

Brooke Burke is a new bride today! The Dancing with the Stars host married former Baywatch actor David Charvet on the beautiful island of St. Barts on Friday.

Burke announced the news via Twitter Sunday morning, writing "sending my 1st good morning tweet as Mrs. Charvet...Its true, we finally did it with love and certainty. OMG, I am a married woman!!!"

"sorry to be so secretive, but we REALLY needed a private moment just for us for all the right reasons. Love you guys xoxo"

A rep for Brooke Burke later confirmed the news.

The couple reportedly tied the knot on a private yacht under the stars near the island of St. Barts.

The Dancing host addressed the issue of marriage last year on her blog, saying that although the couple had been engaged since 2006 the real marriage talk was finally starting to heat up.

Click here for more celebrity weddings on SheKnows >>>

"David and I have been talking marriage lately," she wrote. "We are just at that place, where love is deep and meaningful, and we are feeling very settled."

"When the subject of marriage came up the other day, we started talking about why to do it at this point in our relationship. We have a home together, 2 kids together, my other 2 that David is helping raise, and we are totally married in our hearts. 'Do you want forever?' David asked. 'Yes, I need forever' I said. It was just that simple. I would like to have a 'Husband'. David has been calling me his WIFE for years, but I have always joked about being only his wanabee wife. I have never said Husband when referring to him and I rarely correct anyone when they give him that title."

Burke and Charvet have been together for years and have two children together, four-year-old Rain and three-year-old Shaya. Burke has two other daughters from her marriage to Extreme Makeover plastic surgeon Garth Fisher, 11-year-old Neriah and nine-year-old Sierra Sky.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Brooke Burke's name is getting a makeover! It's out with the maiden name and in with the married on tonight's episode of Dancing with the Stars. Please welcome host Brooke Charvet!

Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke is bucking the Hollywood trend of keeping a maiden name for the sake of image continuity. The recently married star is kissing "Brooke Burke" goodbye in favor of being known as "Brooke Charvet."

Attentive ears listening in on Monday night's Dancing with the Stars episode will hear the first televised introduction of Brooke Burke as Brooke Charvet. "Tomorrow on Dancing with the Stars will be the first time I go by my new name [on TV]," the 39-year-old, pictured here at Sunday's Emmy Awards with hubby David Charvet tells People. "I'm happy about being Brooke Charvet."

Just one month ago the mother of four tied the knot with long-term fiancee David Charvet in a secrect ceremony in St. Bart's. "The timing just felt right," Brooke Burke says of her island wedding. "It was a very selfish, but meaningful moment. It was really spontaneous and romantic and really about us and not about what everyone else wanted or thought."

At the time, the season 7 winner of Dancing with the Stars tweeted the happy news, writing, "sending my 1st good morning tweet as Mrs. Charvet...Its true, we finally did it with love and certainty. OMG, I am a married woman!!!"

Brooke Burke added, "sorry to be so secretive, but we REALLY needed a private moment just for us for all the right reasons. Love you guys xoxo"

Yet despite the newlywed's obvious love, reaction to Brooke Burke's name change hasn't been all positive. "It's been 50-50 from everybody," the newlywed admits adding, "but I'm doing it!"

What Brooke Burke really wants to do in hotel beds

Life with four kids underfoot is a lot for Brooke Burke and David Charvet. That's why this pair of newlyweds has been known to sneak off for a hotel night alone.

Brooke Burke

Five months into their marriage Brooke Burke and David Charvet have placed a higher priority on sleep than hanky-panky time. The parents of four are so desperate for peace and quiet they've even been known to check into a hotel for a "sleepcation."

You see, 4-year-old Heaven and 3-year-old Shaya are still prone to joining their parents in bed at home. "My two younger kids always end up in our bed in the middle of the night," Brooke Burke recently told Fitness magazine.

"I think that sleep deprivation is a really bad thing for a woman, not only for her skin and eyes, but also for her mood, memory, metabolism, energy and sex drive," the 40-year-old continued. "David and I have done 'sleepcations,' where we check into a hotel room simply to be alone and sleep."

Daytime in the Charvet home isn't without its hiccups either. Brooke Burke shared, "I wish I were always calm in the chaos. I have children with very strong personalities, and as elating as that is, it can also be deflating. There's a lot of action in my household and sometimes I'm a referee all day long."

The children, who include Neriah and Sierra from Brooke's first marriage to Garth Fisher, often have a hard time adjusting to the comings and goings of their different families. "Having a blended family is a challenge," explained the Dancing with the Stars co-host. "Two of my children are with their father part of the week, so when they come home they want me all to themselves."

She went on to say, "Then my other two children, who have had me all to themselves, suddenly have to share me and that can make them very needy."

Jillian Michaels on Women's Health June 2012

Jillian Michaels

Former Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels shows off her envious abs on the June cover of Women’s Health, currently on stands. The 38-year-old trainer announced this month that she is gay and is also a new mom! She adopted a 2-year-old daughter, named Lukensia, from Haiti — and her partner Heidi Rhoades gave birth to a son named Phoenix... and it all happened in the same week!

“Adoption is a calling,” she explained to People. “You just know in the deepest part of your being that you are meant to find this little soul and guide them through life.”

After her big coming out, Jillian Michaels thanked fans via twitter>>

Michaels revealed to Women’s Health which celebrity moms have the hottest bods in Hollywood — and she said new mom Beyonce has the best abs. "I just love that she is sexy and feminine and has curves but is still really fit. To dance the way she does — she's an incredible athlete,” she said.

Madonna’s age-defying body also tops her list. "It's ridiculous how she's kept fit at 53. Obviously, she means business."

Lastly, she offers this tip for fab abs this summer. "You want to eat things that are high in fiber and that keep moving through your body,” she said. “For a lot of people, a ton of dairy can screw up digestion and cause bloating."

Michelle Obama on Parents magazine June 2012

Michelle Obama

America’s First Lady Michelle Obama graced the cover of Parents magazine and spoke about her new book, American Grown, as well as her Let’s Move! initiative to combat childhood obesity.

“Let's Move! is not about government telling people what to do but about providing the info they need in their own lives,” she says in her interview. “There are small and meaningful changes that parents can make in their lives that will make all the difference: drinking more water, incorporating more fruits and vegetables, using MyPlate as a template for figuring out how to structure meals, finding creative ways to get our kids moving, being advocates in schools by paying attention to what's being served and not being afraid to be a voice for the changes we want to see.”

She also spoke about the importance of getting kids involved in sports, including her daughters Sasha and Malia. “I also encourage each girl to try an individual and a team sport,” she said. “We aren't talking about how they look. We are talking about what to do to be a well-rounded person. I encourage my girls to get comfortable being sweaty, being dirty, physically falling down and getting back up and realizing you will be OK.”

Pink June 2012 Cosmopolitan

Pink

Singer Pink looked like one hot mama on the June cover of Cosmopolitan. The edgy singer, who has a daughter that is almost 1 year old named Willow with her husband Carey Hart, confessed that being pregnant was not all it was cracked up to be.

“I thought I’d feel like a goddess. They sell you on that... like you’ll never feel more feminine. Really, I just felt like a mess,” said Pink, who admitted she gained 55 pounds during her pregnancy.

As far as finding time for romantic moments with her husband, she said she has had to get creative. “We’ve never had a problem with affection. But with a baby? It’s kinda gross, but you have to schedule it. [Willow] sleeps in bed with us. We’re just starting to think about putting her somewhere else, at least for a little while. Either that, or we’ll have to resort to getting it on in the laundry room.”

Debra Messing on Ladies' Home Journal June 2012

Debra Messing

Smash star Debra Messing looked gorgeous on the June 2012 cover of Ladies’ Home Journal and she opened up about being a single mom after her divorce from Daniel Zelman.

“I think the institution of marriage is a noble thing. I think the idea of a partner for life is incredibly romantic. But now we're living to 100. A hundred years ago, people were dying at age 37. Til death do us part was a much different deal,” she said, on splitting with her husband after being married for 20 years.

She also confessed that moving her son Roman from L.A. to New York was “completely traumatic.”

“I had to find a school for my second grader. We didn't have a home, we didn't have furniture. It was literally moving here with nothing but faith and hope,” she said.

Messing said that her son is now fitting well in his new surroundings.

“It's exciting watching him navigate New York City. Every month I see him growing stronger and more confident and brave,” she said.

Brooke Burke-Charvet

Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke-Charvet turned 40 last year, but looks a full decade younger! The mom of four shared her anti-aging secrets and even shared that she has considered having her breast implants re-done.

“I have,” says Brooke, who was married to famed Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher. “When you've breastfed four children, things kind of change. So that's probably the most likely thing on the radar. I went through a phase where I wanted to have smaller breasts. Sometimes it's easier in dresses and gowns.”

She also says she does little things along the way to help her keep her youthful look. “I've done little bits of Botox for a long time. If I wasn't on TV, I probably wouldn't. Fillers at a minimal level are OK, but it scares me because I don't want to have that bloated look. In our industry, people do too much too soon or just too much. There's nothing worse than that frozen 'I'm 40 but I want to look 25' look.”

Brooke’s No. 1 Diet Tip: Eat More!

Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke is super-busy, but between four kids and working full time, this mother and model still finds time to focus on health and fitness. Find out how she keeps her fabulous Celebody.

Whether it’s chasing around her four children, hitting up a cardio jam class with friends or simply popping in a quick workout DVD at home, Brooke Burke always makes time for fitness.

Take care of yourself

"You have to take care of yourself as much as you take care of your families," Brooke told SheKnows recently at the launch of Dreyer’s Light Slow Churned ice cream campaign, "A Reason to Smile," benefiting Operation Smile.

"The more you work out the more you crave it. I’m sort of addicted to that burn."

"The more you work out the more you crave it," Brooke told us. "I’m sort of addicted to that burn. I schedule it, just like I schedule stuff for my kids. I try to get it done in the morning when the kids are at school."

Stay active

The 40-year-old mom and Dancing with the Stars host lists her favorite activities as Pilates Plus, her own home workout DVDs and fitness classes with friends. She also takes advantage of the wonderful summer weather in Malibu and spends a lot of time outdoors with her hubby, Baywatch'sDavid Charvet, and their kids.

"My family is really active," said Brooke. "We spend a lot of time on the trampoline, family barbecues -- they’re always swimming, we’re always on the go, just staying active and moving and enjoying family time outside."

Eat well

Eating well is also an important part of Brooke’s fitness regimen, and she gets the whole family in on making healthy choices as well.

"I try to make eating fun," Brooke told SheKnows. "I like to cook, so I invite [my kids] to shop with me. I invite them to engage in the kitchen with me. I’ll make little kiwi faces with oranges and apples. I think as a mom if you just take them time to be creative and put it in front of them, they’re going to eat one of the few things."

Brooke Burke's berry smoothie

Brooke’s healthy diet plan:

  • Breakfast: A protein shake with berries and coconut water
  • Lunch: A chopped salad with salmon
  • Dinner: A lean protein like fish and chicken
  • Snacks:"I love lemon water and green tea." Also: Slow Churned Light ice cream
Baboosh body

What’s in that gym bag?

  • Baboosh Body
  • Environmentally friendly water bottle
  • Extra shirt -- "I love to sweat!"
  • iPod
  • Phone
Sexy and I Know It

Brooke’s favorite songs to sweat to:

  • Sexy & I Know It– LMFAO
  • You & I– Lady Gaga
  • Don’t Cha– Pussy Cat Dolls
  • We Found Love– Rihanna
  • Dance Again– Jennifer Lopez
  • Just Can’t Get Enough– Black Eyed Peas

Brooke Burke eating ice cream

Be positive

Another thing Brooke makes sure to do with her kids is use positive words about eating healthy instead of focusing on the negative.

"I start to educate them really early on about healthy choices and I try not to use words like 'fat' and 'weight,' " said Brooke. "Especially as a mom with little girls, it’s a very sensitive subject matter."

But just like everyone else, Brooke has her splurges.

"Every once in a while I eat a margherita pizza, chocolate chip cookies or some ice cream," she revealed. "You just have to be conscious and find those right choices where you’re not always sacrificing. Then pick a day and cheat -- then get back on track."

Eat more

And though it may seem counter-intuitive, Brooke says the most important thing of all is really to just simply eat.

"Eat more when you want to lose weight," she told us. "Fad diets come and go. Never starve yourself or skip breakfast. Eat often and eat smart."

Scoops for Smiles

Brooke Burke is lending her famous smile to Dreyer’s Ice Cream to give back to Operation Smile, using a classic summer treat to change a child’s life forever. Find out how your smile can help.

SheKnows caught up with Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke and Dreyer’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream at their summer-long initiative, A Reason to Smile, where Burke served up free scoops of ice cream to participants in exchange for a photograph of the smile it brought to their faces. Dreyer’s plans to donate $5 for each picture that is uploaded to their Facebook page all summer long.

Operation Smile is a worldwide children’s medical organization that performs surgeries throughout the world on children born with cleft palates and facial deformities.

"Every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft -- often, they are unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile."

"Every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft -- often, they are unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile," said Lisa Jardanhazy, vice president of Operation Smile.

Brooke’s goal is to capture 25,000 photos by the end of the summer to raise enough money with Dreyer’s initiative to enable Operation Smile to perform more than 500 reconstructive surgeries. Brooke served Extra’s Mario Lopez the first scoop during the kickoff at the Los Angeles shopping center, The Grove.

The campaign will travel across the country to fairs and family hangouts to raise money for the cause from now until Aug. 31.

Brooke is passionate about Operation Smile because she says, "I have four kids and really understand the importance of self-esteem."

She also noted that it’s not just people writing checks and that it's a chance to actually donate your time to give back. Brooke says she is on a mission to raise as much money as she can for Operation Smile.

Brooke Burke and husband David

Though they’ve known each other for almost 20 years and have two children together, Brooke Burke and hubby David Charvet are just now celebrating their one year anniversary.

"That husband label, it’s more complete and it’s special," Brooke told SheKnows at the launch of her new lingerie line, intiMINT.

The longtime couple tied the knot last August on a yacht in St. Barts with their four kids in attendance.

So how is the happy couple celebrating one year of wedded bliss? With her sexy lingerie, we assume!

"We’re going to be home. We’re going to do a staycation," said Brooke. We’re thinking for David’s benefit, Brooke will make the staycation special by breaking out some of her new pieces.

"He’s French, so of course he likes very sexy lingerie," said Brooke.

"He’s French, so of course he likes very sexy lingerie."

She, on the other hand, values comfort. Luckily, it seems Charvet isn’t too picky.

"Even if I have a beautiful pair of panties on, and I’m in his T-shirt, I feel like a woman," Brooke told us. "It’s sexy and he loves it all."

"Even if I have a beautiful pair of panties on, and I’m in his T-shirt, I feel like a woman."

Brooke’s new line has plenty of pieces that fit into both categories, from lacy thongs to loungewear.

"It doesn’t have to be all sexy," Brooke told us. "It’s all about feeling beautiful. I like sensible fabrics that are light to the touch. It’s about flattering silhouettes, fashion colors and pieces that are meant to be seen."

Brooke told us that her collection is meant to be displayed under layered looks.

"You have that one tank top where you can’t hide your bra, so we say show it with a more beautiful color or a lace that’s intentionally meant to be shown," said Brooke.

Brooke Burke-Charvet reveals that she is battling cancer in a video to her fans.

BrookeBurkeCharvetCancerDancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet revealed some sobering news today on the ModernMom website: She is battling cancer.

The host went for her annual physical when her doctor noticed a nodule on her thyroid. After a series of tests and a second opinion, the medical experts all came to the same conclusion — that that the issue needed to be dealt with immediately.

In the video, Charvet revealed, "I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy. Which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck."

The former Wild On... star was very clear that she wanted all of the health information to come from her so her fans would have the correct information. The video was her savvy way of controlling how the news reached the public and the media.

Even with her diagnosis, she seems to be in great spirits. Charvet said, "I feel really good and actually I've never felt better."

Tom Bergeron's co-host already has the surgery scheduled, which will most likely happen after Season 15 of DWTS wraps in a few weeks.

The mother of four has always been into fitness and health, so her positive attitude appears to be carrying her a long way.

She says, "I'm going to be fine. And I feel really really strong. Doctors say this is a good kind of cancer to have. Good cancer! That sounds so crazy. But my doctor did tell me this is a happily-ever-after ending kind of thing. I'm going fight through this."

Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke-Charvet will undergo thyroid surgery this week after revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this fall.

Now that Dancing with the Stars is over for the season, co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet is prepping for a more serious venture off the dance floor. She will undergo surgery this week to tackle the thyroid cancer she was diagnosed with earlier this fall.

Burke-Charvet went public with her illness on Nov. 8 on the blog Modern Mom. She told her fans that she would need thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy to battle the cancer. Even with the scary diagnosis, she was upbeat about the cancer and her recovery.

At the time, she said, "I'm going to make a positive out of this negative thing. I am going to be a really good patient and I am going to do everything I need to do."

Now that the week of her surgery is here, the host posted on her Facebook page to talk about her upcoming procedure.

She wrote, "I am touched and appreciative to all of you for sharing your positive wishes for my surgery, and for sharing many of your personal thyroid experiences. I really do read your comments and they all mean a lot to me. I’m getting ready this week for my surgery and am planning on a speedy recovery."

Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars does not premiere until the spring, so Burke-Charvet should have plenty of time to rest and make her health a top priority. She will also have lots of help along the way since her husband, David, and their two kids, daughter Rain, 5, and son Shaya, 4, plus her two daughters from her first marriage, Neriah, 12, and Sierra, 10, are ready to pitch in.

It's clear that Burke-Charvet is feeling the love, though. Her Facebook post concluded with, "What a crazy time, but I am surrounded with love and support and that really makes a world of difference. Thank you for following me and for all your thoughts and prayers. I feel it, truly, and your energy outweighs my stress! From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
